Last week I was involved with the production of a web video about Cathay Pacific making direct flights to Hong Kong from Adelaide. The video was for aviation web site www.5dme.net and was produced by Aviation Media.
The two crew, Myself and David Wilkie used the Sony HDR-550. The location was a shady spot with lots of bright sunlight coming in from behind through trees. We preferred to keep our interview guest with his back to the sun and stretch the camera a bit.
The results were very good. Considering we did not use iMode the exposure was top shelf.
Audio was a lapel mic on a tie clasp with the camera sensitivity set to low as there was background traffic. The end result was clear, full range audio.
The stock footage of the A330 aircraft was 2009 vintage and was taken airside at Adelaide. It was shot on a Sony SD handicam but served the purpose.
Nearly 3 years ago I was starting construction of the 5DME aviation web site. Well, three years later it is over 120 pages, thousands of photos and all the stories on the latest aviation news from South Australia fill the pages.
The team has grown from just myself and Rob and we now cover several airfields from Goolwa to Edinburgh RAAF base and abroad.
We have tried to include everyone from aviation, no matter what their job or where they fit in. All too often everything and everyone but the planes and pilots are forgotten. It has been our aim to promote aviation as a whole.
We have moved from just photographs to the production of informative videos using my 25 years experience in television. This has added another facet to the web site to generate interest in aviation.
Enough said, just take a look for yourself. www.5dme.net
The Royal Australian Air Force has just transported an F-111 from RAAF Amberly in Queensland to RAAF Edinburgh in South Australia. The journey took four days by road and I had the chance to video the arrival for aviation web site www.5dme.net
